Public Safety Employer Programs
PSEI offers an attractive recruitment and retention program to public safety employers.
The partnership between Charter Oak State College and PSEI allows public safety students maximum flexibility in class location (on-line and local classrooms),
credit for prior learning, credit transfer (up to 90 credits from regionally accredited two-year colleges), and course curriculum. The Public Safety Administration
degree program allows employers to cost-effectively offer their employees a fully accredited bachelor's degree completion program with an emphasis in management
in the public safety sector.
The cutting-edge Public Safety Administration curriculum is relevant and current, including topics such as counteracting terrorism and cultural diversity
in public safety. The curriculum is management-based and results in better decision-making by public safety employees.
As the exclusive provider for the Public Safety Administration programs at Charter Oak State College, PSEI develops,
updates, and instructs the comprehensive Public Safety Administration course curriculum. All administration of the degree program, including fees, course tuition,
prior credit review, academic counseling, and degree planning is handled directly by Charter Oak State College. Employer reimbursement,
employer tuition prepayment, and financial aid are also handled directly by Charter Oak State College.
Charter Oak State College recognizes and awards credit for the courses offered by the
Public Safety Education Institute that have been evaluated and recommended for credit by the
National Program on Noncollegiate
Sponsored Instruction ("National PONSI"), a division of the Board of Regents of The University of the State of New York.
The Institute currently offers 12
courses recommended by National PONSI and Charter Oak State College for upper division college credit that have been designed as the core curriculum for
public safety students to
meet the Charter Oak State College requirements for an
Academic Concentration in Public Safety Administration™.
